Get Rid of Those Under Eye Bags!
Under eye bags are annoying and make a person look tired, old and sad. Usually hereditary, under eye bags also can be caused by aging and chronic lack of sleep. In fact, there are many factors that can contribute to formation or worsening of under eye bags. While various creams, ointments and even face masks exist to lessen the effects of under eye bags, there is no long-term treatment short of blepharoplasty (eyelid lift surgery).
Dr. Joshua Greenwald is an excellent blepharoplasty surgeon and routinely performs the procedure on patients who are struggling with unsightly under eye bags. Eyelid lift surgery is a simple procedure that is often performed under local anesthesia, though patients can request general anesthesia if they would like to be unconscious during surgery.
The incisions for lower blepharoplasty are made within the natural folds of the lower eyelids or on the inside of the lids through a membrane called the conjunctiva. Placing the incisions on the inside of the lids is a preferred method as it prevents any visible scarring.
After making the incisions, Dr. Greenwald skillfully separates the skin from the underlying tissue and removes excess fat and muscle. Muscles can also be repositioned rather than excised. The excess, sagging skin is then trimmed, tightened and sutured in place. The incisions are closed with very thin sutures that are removed within a few days.
Full recovery after eyelid lift surgery is achieved within seven to 10 days. Mild swelling and discomfort is common and subsides fairly quickly.
Within two weeks you will be able to enjoy your lower eyelid surgery, wear makeup and feel better about your facial appearance.
