Changes Women Notice After Breast Augmentation
The changes women notice after breast augmentation go far beyond the physical. Many of these changes are emotional, in a positive sense. Dr. Joshua Greenwald explains the changes women experience after breast augmentation.
Period of Adjustment
After breast augmentation, expect to wait between a few weeks and a few months for your breast implants to look completely normal. Initially, it might look like your breasts sit too high on your chest. During this waiting period, your breasts will eventually settle into a normal position.
Less Noticeable Weight Changes
Breast augmentation makes little difference if a woman gains a lot of weight. However, small weight changes are not as noticeable. That’s because your body is now more proportional.
More Self-Confidence
Knowing you look better builds self-confidence. That self-confidence extends to every area of your life, whether personal or professional. You may find yourself receiving opportunities you didn’t have in the past. That isn’t necessarily the result of your breast augmentation, but rather the more confident person you’ve become.
More Flattering Clothing
After breast augmentation, plan to make some additions to your wardrobe. Some of your pre-augmentation shirts, sweaters and dresses may no longer fit your new bustline. Breast augmentation means you can indulge in different and more flattering styles.
If you were self-conscious about wearing low-cut clothes before your surgery, you may not feel that way anymore. Allow yourself to experiment with clothing that suits your new, improved build.
Of course, you’ll have to invest in some new bras! It’s also the time to think about new, sexy lingerie for your better-proportioned breasts.
Nipple Sensation
Some women may experience changes in nipple sensation after augmentation. This is usually temporary, with normal sensation returning by the first anniversary of the surgery. For roughly 15 percent of women, nipple sensation changes are permanent.
These changes range from total loss of feeling to tingling sensations. Those occasional twinges or slight pain are signs of nerve regeneration post-surgery. So is itching or a burning sensation. Regular massaging of the breasts encourages nerve regeneration and a faster return to full nipple sensation.
Better Quality of Life
Overall, most women find the quality of their lives improving after breast augmentation. The decision to undergo the procedure often takes some time, but many women feel more attractive, feminine and desirable after the procedure.
